Participants engage in a hands-on workshop, facilitated by Skills Builder at Kyndryl’s facilities. Students gain insights into careers in computing, AI, and cybersecurity while interacting with tech professionals from the business. This STEM-focused initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world technology applications. Students work in teams to apply their creativity and problem solving skills to design an app which helps Kyndryl employees to overcome a communication challenge they are facing.
This experience moves beyond basic awareness to the active practice and application of essential skills in a professional context. Students use selected skill steps from the creativity and problem solving frameworks during the activities. The essential skills are referred to consistently across the session, and the icons are used across the PowerPoint slides. Students reflect on their understanding and application of specific focus skill steps. Volunteers are briefed on how to use the language of the framework in advance.
