What’s your strength?® is the brainchild of Career Development Professional, Katherine Jennick, who is passionate about using a strength-based approach to help people realise amazing they are. Founded in 2019, What’s your strength?® started as a pack of cards to empower teenagers. It has evolved into a series of award-winning resources for young people, adults, and people with additional needs. As well as the abundance of strength-based resources, Katherine also offers 1:1 career guidance for young people, and runs collaborative creative workshops for a variety of different audiences.
The Skills Diamond activity is one of the free resources available. This interactive activity has been designed to encourage conversation and debate about the importance of the 8 essential skills in different job roles.
Learners will work in pairs to research a specific job role (the instructions include recommended websites to help with this research). They will then discuss the skills needed for the job and use the Skills Diamond activity to rank the 8 essential skills in order of importance.
There is no right or wrong answer with this activity; the key thing is for learners to be able to explain their reasons and give examples of how the skills are important for the job they have chosen. The Skills Diamond template is available to download from the What's your strength?® website by clicking the link below.
