This is a one day Insight experiences for local college students who are studying Aviation or Travel and Tourism courses.
At the start of the session, the facilitator introduces the students to essential skills, and how they differ from basic and technical skills. They explain the eight essential skills and their definitions from the framework, and encourage students to reflect on when they have demonstrated these skills in the past. As they work through the sessions, and learn more about services at Heathrow, they are encouraged to think about the essential skills required for a successful career in Services. Students are encouraged to be inquisitive, and to ask lots of questions.
Over the course of the day, students take part in activities where they reflect on the essential skills and hear from colleagues who talk about how they use the essential skills in their roles.
At the end of the day, students are encouraged to explore the essential skills further, and a link to the Universal Framework is shared.
