This six-week programme immerses students in robotics through hands-on design, coding, and testing challenges. It begins with a deep dive into idea generation, experimentation, and rapid prototyping, where students learn to embrace failure as a vital part of the learning process. As the sprint progresses, they refine their designs, tackle increasingly complex problems, and collaborate closely with peers and industry mentors. It culminates in students presenting their projects to senior industry leads, reflecting on their journey, and demonstrating the essential skills, technical confidence, and innovative mindset they have built over six weeks.

The robotics sprint makes essential skills development transparent through consistent language and focused skill-building activities. Students have the opportunity to develop their Listening, Adapting, Creativity and Problem Solving skills in a real-world engineering context. Pre- and post-programme surveys allow students to quantify their progress and identify next steps in each essential skill. By reflecting throughout the six-week activities, including workplace immersion with industry partners, students see measurable growth and understand how to apply these skills in other contexts.
