Insight Days

Network Rail’s Insight Days give secondary school students the opportunity to find out more about careers in rail through a visit to a rail workplace. Students put their essential skills into practice through an industry project solving a rail challenge and then presenting their ideas. They also get to see behind the scenes during a site tour led by rail experts and have the chance to talk to employees about how they joined Network Rail and the career paths they have taken.

Students are taught about specific skills steps that will help them to develop their Teamwork and Problem Solving skills during a group project. Students record their reflections and self-assess their confidence in each skill they practise in a workbook that they take home as a record of their learning.
