Apps for Good is an education technology charity that believes all young people should be empowered to take action on the things they care about most. We provide free tech innovation courses to schools and teachers. Through our ready-made education content, young people from all backgrounds can develop computing and essential skills to create a brighter future through technology.

During this course, students work in pairs and teams to design and create an app prototype that supports climate action focused on one or more of the five climate action goals. Designed for delivery across seven sessions in Key Stage 3 curriculum time or as an extra-curricular activity, the course is accessible for both computing and non-specialist teachers.

Students get to grips with the fundamentals of climate change, building their knowledge and understanding, whilst also thinking about what’s important to them and their communities. By the end of the course they will have a technical prototype app to bring their ideas to life. They also have the chance to interact with industry experts, receive feedback on their products and can submit their work for our annual end-of-year Showcase.

Students learn, practise and reflect upon their progress across all eight essential skills, as well as their knowledge of climate change, technology’s role in tackling it, and their computing skills.
