HMP Buckley Hall is a Category C men's training prison located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Education, skills, and work provisions at HMP Buckley Hall are primarily focused on reducing reoffending and helping the men at Buckley Hall reintegrate into society.  Those participating in the provision have access to various hands-on vocational courses and qualifications to prepare them for the workforce.

By aligning workshops to essential skills, the men at Buckley Hall are given the opportunity to reflect on the existing skill sets and strengths they have, and how they can utilise these within the Education, Skills and Work provision.

Participants focus on a 'Skill of the Month' to explore specific steps and core concepts in detail, and practise and apply these skill steps through the workshops.  Staff use the explicit language of the Universal Framework to guide reflection and identify skill development.

The men taking part in these workshops are also supported to complete personal development workbooks, which include opportunities to reflect on their essential skills, identify strengths and areas for development and create SMART targets.
