Heathrow Masterclasses

The Essential Skills Masterclasses are a series of workshops delivered by Heathrow and The Skills Builder Partnership. The workshops are delivered to groups of college students with additional learning needs where they learn about the Essential Skills and the Skills Builder Framework and practise these through a range of activities.

Across the two workshops, students have the opportunity to reflect on and practise focus skill steps from all eight essential skills. The skill icons are included on all resources (workbook and presentation slides).

All volunteers (from Heathrow and Team Heathrow) are briefed on how to use the universal framework (and the language of the essential skills) to support the students in their session.

The sessions use the Skills Builder definitions consistently, and reflection questions specifically link to the skill steps that are applied in the session activities.
