Digital Explorers is a virtual work experience programme created by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) that introduces students to the world of technology, innovation, and careers in tech. Over a structured multi-day course, participants explore topics such as design thinking, cybersecurity, sustainability, and emerging technologies while completing interactive activities and reflections. The programme guides students step-by-step in developing their own tech-based solution to a real-world problem—linked to global challenges like sustainable development—helping them build essential skills such as Problem Solving, Creativity, and Planning, and culminating in a final project and presentation.
The Digital Explorers programme supports essential skill development at Impact Level 3 by embedding clear, structured opportunities for learners to practise and apply key skills throughout the entire experience.
Skills such as Problem Solving, Creativity, and Planning are explicitly built into each stage of the programme, rather than being taught in isolation.
Learners develop these skills through a carefully sequenced, project-based approach. They begin by researching real-world problems linked to global challenges, then move on to generating ideas, designing solutions using design thinking, and finally creating and pitching a technology-based solution. This progression helps students apply essential skills in realistic contexts and supports them in becoming more independent and confident in their abilities.
The programme also includes regular reflection activities, where students evaluate how they have used specific skills and how they can improve. This reflection strengthens their understanding and helps them transfer these skills to other areas of learning and future work.
Overall, Digital Explorers meets Impact Level 3 by providing consistent, structured opportunities for students to practise, reflect on and apply essential skills in meaningful, real-world scenarios, leading to deeper skill development and greater learner independence.
