The Careers Fair Skills Safari experience is an interactive activity for students to use at Careers Fairs, to help them gain the most from the experience.
They are provided with pertinent questions to ask employer volunteers to find out about their roles and the essential skills they use. They also complete an activity where they identify which skill stages volunteers use in their roles.
The essential skills icons are included on all resources and are consistently referred to throughout the sessions. Positive links between essential skills and life outcomes are highlighted through the activity where students identify which skill stages employees use.
During the preparation activity, students are introduce to Listening Step 8, using open questions. Students are guided to reflect on how confident they feel using open questions to understand more about the volunteers' roles.
