The Building Our Futures programme is a 6-module learning experience designed for primary pupils to develop essential skills and careers learning. Using the concept of a Skills Toolbox, each module equips pupils with practical tools for school, work, and life beyond the classroom. Activities focus on Teamwork, Problem Solving, Communication (Speaking/Listening), and Adapting, helping children understand different careers and the skills needed to succeed. The programme encourages exploration, reflection, and confidence-building, giving young learners a head start in planning their futures. By gradually filling their toolbox, pupils gain the foundations to thrive academically and professionally while enjoying engaging, hands-on learning.

Pupils complete interactive activities using the Skills Toolbox, reflecting on Teamwork, Problem Solving and Communication (Speaking/Listening) at each step. Progress is tracked across modules to show development in essential skills.

Throughout the 6-module programme, learners identify key skills needed for different careers, set personal targets, and revisit them to measure improvement by the end.

Essential skills icons are embedded in all workbooks and slides, with teachers consistently prompting pupils to recognise and apply these skills in practical, real-world tasks.
