Barclays LifeSkills is a free employability and financial education programme to unlock skills and employment opportunities for all ages. Whether you are looking to develop your skills, upskill young people, or are a parent or carer educating your children – its resources which range from lesson plans, films and interactive tools can be accessed via the website.

The LifeSkills core transferable skills lesson suite for ages 11-19 introduces students to seven key skills for employment success, with each session able to be delivered flexibly as a standalone session, or as part of a series in any order. Every lesson has supporting presentation slides and includes an overview of each skill, and an engaging practical activity to help students put the skill into action. Accompanying worksheets allow students to rank their skills to help them reflect on their strengths and identify areas for improvement.

The lessons align with the Skills Builder Universal Framework, showing young people how to build essential skills for life at Impact Level 3. By engaging with thought-provoking questions and hands-on tasks, these materials prompt students to examine their current abilities and explore ways to strengthen their skill set. Learners are encouraged to identify opportunities for growth, practise unfamiliar skills, and build confidence.
